The Biophilia App Suite

Biophilia Educational Program was presented in workshops and a plenary speech during the conference Nordic Bridges for Lifelong Learning in Reykjavik on June 10 and 11 2014. The participants in the conference were divided into eight thematic workshops in accordance with Biophilia and they got presentation and in some extent they also tried the program.
In advance participants should have downloaded Biophilia app to their mobile or tablet.

Experiences from Biophilia (creativity as a research method), have been tested in Iceland and are being discussed on a Nordic scale at different levels during the Icelandic presidency in 2014. The method is used to improve co-operation between science, culture and education. Participants at the conference are invited to engage in "teamwork without borders" in accordance with the Biophilia model: to familiarize themselves with fresh research, to try research-based development activities, and to integrate art, science, pedagogy and ICT/media into the process.

To be able to engage in and get the most out of the Biophilia Educational Project Workshops on June 10th it is strongly advised that participants download the Biophilia Apps Suite on their touch screen devices before arriving at the conference and bring them along. The world’s first "app album" is quite large in size (around 1GB) and takes some time to download as the suite includes ten different apps, one for each song. The App is priced at about 10 Euros.

The Biophilia App Suite is an extraordinary and innovative multimedia exploration of music, nature and technology produced by the Icelandic artist Björk. Comprising original music and interactive, educational artworks and musical artifacts, Biophilia is released as ten in-app experiences that are accessed as you fly through a three-dimensional galaxy that accompanies the album’s theme song Cosmogony. All of the album’s songs are available inside Biophilia as interactive experiences: Crystalline, Virus, Moon, Thunderbolt, Sacrifice, Mutual Core, Hollow, Solstice, and Dark Matter.
